Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of being represented by ISP?
We know our schools, we have the contacts, and we know how best to present you. From long experience, we know the schools’ philosophies and the special features that distinguish them. We have close relationships with Heads of School, Division Heads and Department Chairs in the independent schools. They routinely contact us to discuss specific openings and candidates. Schools list some positions with us that are not published in other media.

We create a file for each candidate we select to represent and handle all the paperwork involved in applying to a school opening. We write a cover letter that highlights a candidate’s qualifications for a specific position. We can help you to produce the most effective resume and cover letter.
What should I expect in your interview process?
We meet personally with each selected candidate. The interview focuses on your background, experience and special interests. It is an opportunity for you to learn more about the independent schools and their individual characteristics. Schools value our recommendations because they know we spend time with each candidate. School administrators consistently tell us that they look forward to the candidates we send.
Can I work with other agencies?
It is best for a candidate to work with only one agency that serves a specific location, such as the Greater New York/New Jersey area. If you are looking at schools outside of this area, you can work with another local or national agency.
Can I approach a school directly?
If you approach one of our client schools directly, we cannot represent you for an opening at that school.
